ABOUT

Born in Brussels, Belgium.

Alain Schroeder is a Belgian photojournalist. He has been a freelance sports photographer from 1979 until 1989, when he founded Reporters, a well-known photo agency in Belgium. His work has been published in National Geographic and Geo among many others and he has illustrated over thirty books.

Since 2012 he has chosen a life on the go. While travelling the world, he is shooting personal projects focusing on social issues and human interest stories. Alain always takes a close look at life and captures his impressions in incredibly strong images telling stories about life and death and everything in between.

Awards

2021 Turkey: 1st place with Dead Goat Polo in Sports Story at the Istanbul Photo Awards.
2021 USA: Award of Excellence at POYI (Pictures of the Year) in the category Sports Picture Story with the series Dead Goat Polo.
2020 Italy: 2nd place in Storyboard in Siena Awards 2020, with the series Saving Orangutans.
2020 Netherlands: 1st prize at World Press Photo with the series Saving Orangutans. First Prize in 2 categories: Nature stories and Nature Single
