Mongolia is a country in transition: never before in history has there been such a large rural exodus as in recent years. Every year, thousands of people move from the steppe to the city in search of urban happiness and work away from agriculture. The capital Ulaanbaatar is growing rapidly, especially the so-called "yurt districts". 60 percent of all inhabitants of the capital live in these quarters, often still in yurts. And so the yurt quarters form a kind of transition between the countryside and the city.
