Tibet I 2011

A pilgrim at the Ganden Monastery Thangka Festival. It is an important festival at the ancient Ganden Monastery, the leading monastery of the Geluk tradition in Tibet. Kora in front of the Tibetan prayer flags on mountain of the monastery. Every year thousands of people circle the ruined monastery, go inside to see the Buddha, pray and be blessed, and then go outside to sit on the hill or try to get close to the wall where the large and vividly woven thangka is displayed.
