Your art is…

Versatile

Name something you love, and why

My Family & Friends!

Which professional success meant the most to you?

My first publication in a well-known German magazine. It feels so good to see your own work out there at a magazine store while you're waiting for the train.

Analog or Digital?

Definitely analog! And not just related to photography. Analog work always brings a certain calm and I like the longer processes that come with it. Often it feels almost meditative to me. When I started taking photos, I worked almost exclusively in analog. But in everyday business I often use digital.

Where do you go when you want to be with you?

In my studio.

Tell us something about your education

After school I trained as a design assistant and then somehow ended up working as a nurse in a hospital for 5 years. I realized very quickly that I was going in the wrong direction and started photography courses at the HGB Leipzig evening school on the side. Then I finally quit my job and moved to Berlin to study photography at Lette-Verein. After graduating, I worked as an assistant to Sarah Illenberger for a few months and started working as a freelance photographer.

A question that moves you right now

How to stop climate change.

Why photography?

I don't know why, but when I was 14, I was suddenly magically drawn to photography from out of nowhere. This has not changed until today, although I´m of course also interested in other creative forms of expression such as painting, sculpture, graphics & design. During lockdown, I've been back to ceramics for a long time.

What part of the human face is your favorite?

There are actually no favorites, but I definitely give compliments for eyes the most often.

Where does your inspiration live?

In general, everything is a source of inspiration for me. My biggest source of inspiration, however, are different colors and materials. Traveling is always a great opportunity for me to get to know other colors, sounds and smells and beside that it’s a good way to recharge my batteries. I love to get away from my usual environment to get other impressions and to get the chance to come up with completely new ideas.I´m also really interested in graphic design and I´m always surprised how many parallels to photography there are. Balanced compositions, exciting contrasts and color combinations is what I look for in good graphic design and are very important to me in my own photographic work. I could spend hours in well-stocked magazine & bookshops.
